CHARLOTTE (WJZY) — Police are investigating after a body was found in the landing gear of a plane from Europe that landed at the Charlotte Airport, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Around 9 a.m. on Sunday, airport officials in Charlotte, North Carolina, said they found someone hiding in the landing gear while performing maintenance on that American Airlines plane that had recently arrived from Europe

The person was pronounced dead by officers.

No other details have been released on the investigation. Nexstar's WJZY contacted American Airlines for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
