Louisville 's Pat Kelsey and Kentucky 's Mark Pope made Taylen Kinney 's home their first stop when a college basketball recruiting window opened at midnight on Sept. 3. The coaches reportedly got into a verbal altercation after Kelsey, with Pope running late, decided to cut in line and conduct his visit first.

"You see stuff on social media and things like that … heck, man, that dude's a competitor," Kelsey said Thursday, at the annual Salute to the Game luncheon ahead of the Trinity-St. X football game. "I'm a competitor. He's the head coach at one of the best programs in the country. So am I. We compete on the court. We compete in recruiting. We go at it. But you know what? There's honor among thieves. We really respect each other."
