WAIPAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Farmers will sell a variety of produce and local goods at Kunia Loa Ridge Farmers Market on Oct. 4.

The market is on the first Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 94-1100 Kunia Road, Waipahu 96797.

“We are a group of small farmers that produce a variety of tropical foods locally,” said farmer Kabi Neupane.

This variety includes mango, dragon fruit, jackfruit, ulu, and taro. Other goods sold are homemade sourdough bread, tropical plants, and Thai food.

Kunia farmers decided to expand their small farm community by opening a market in April, hoping to reduce waste from unconsumed produce and alleviate Hawaii’s overreliance on imports.

“We want to make sure that Hawaii doesn’t have to depend solely on imported goods,” said farmer Grace Moli Wilson.
