MONROE, La. (KNOE) - KNOE TV signed on air September 27, 1953. Opening day was a citywide celebration complete with a parade. KNOE became the third station in all of Louisiana.

Starting in 1955, the broadcast transitioned from black and white to color. The station first carried local programming in color in 1966.

“Through the 1990s, KNOE served central Louisiana as the CBS affiliate on record.” Longtime KNOE operations worker, Tom Cole, says KNOE gave viewers a variety of options.

The station has been affiliated with all four television networks of the Golden Age. Kay LaFrance Knight says her mother played piano for the station during that era and that she was grateful for her experience at KNOE.
