GENESEE COUNTY, MI – In the midst of Sunday worship, a man rammed his vehicle through a church and began shooting at those inside.
Hundreds were in attendance when chaos unfolded at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc.
One person was killed, and nine others were injured.
The suspect, a 40-year-old Burton man, was fatally shot after exchanging gunfire with Grand Blanc Township police.
A motive has not been determined.
Police Chief William Renye briefed the public Sunday afternoon with additional details. He said the church was in service, with hundreds inside, when the Burton man drove his vehicle through the front door.
The man exited the vehicle, pulled out an assault rifle and started shooting, Renye said.
