SAN DIEGO — Corbin Carroll is out of the Diamondbacks ’ lineup again for their season finale against the San Diego Padres on Sept. 28 as manager Torey Lovullo said he wants to be sure his star right fielder heads into the offseason on a healthy note.
“He’s banged up,” Lovullo said. “He played a month recovering with a broken hand. I just told him, ‘I want to take you off the field.’”
Carroll also was out of the lineup on Sept. 27, the day after the club was eliminated from the wild-card race. Carroll had started 65 consecutive games.
“I just felt like I got to take care of him,” Lovullo said. “I don’t want him to leave this season banged up. I think he’s on the other side. I want to be just situationally aware of what he can and can’t do for us.”
