A Head Constable saved the life of a suicidal man by tackling him out of the way of a goods train on Friday.

Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Jat said that Head Constable Lalji Bharwad, posted at Viramgam Town police station in Rural Ahmedabad , “displayed extraordinary bravery and presence of mind, setting a shining example for the entire force.”

At around 4 pm on Friday, while on routine patrolling duty, HC Lalji Bharwad noticed a middle-aged man suddenly running toward a railway track near a crossing. At the same moment, a fast-approaching goods train was arriving on the tracks.

Bharwad stopped his bike, sprinted toward the man, and in a split-second decision that possibly risked his own life, jumped forward, caught hold of the man in his arms, and forcefully pushed him backward
