Marcus Jones played a big role in the Patriots taking a 28-6 lead at halftime over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon .

With the Panthers up 6-0, Jones — instead of calling for a fair catch — ran 87 yards to give the Patriots a 7-6 lead . Jones then returned another punt in the second quarter, this time for 61 yards to put himself among some solid company.

The cornerback’s second punt return marked the fourth time he went at least 60 yards, which tied Patriots Hall of Fame wide receiver Julian Edelman for most 60-plus-yard punt returns in team history.

Jones also joined former New Englnad wide receiver Gunner Olszewski as the only Patriots player since the 1970 AFL/NFL merger to have multiple 60-yard punt returns in a single game.
