ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It was a celebration of culture and creativity as the first Painted Skies Pow Wow was held Saturday at USS Bullhead Park. Community members from Albuquerque and surrounding areas gathered in the park to celebrate and honor the heritage of Indigenous communities through music, traditional dance, and food.

"So, Painted Skies was an idea me and my father put together a couple years ago, with the need knowing that Albuquerque and city Natives needed more of an outlet. Northern tribes and other tribes nationwide they have pow wows all the time in their states, and we just wanted to facilitate that for our people here. Two, three months ago, I told my dad, 'You know what? Let's just do it,'" said event organizers Adrian Tsosie.
