Even if a race seems settled, as long as there's a way, as long as there are enough games left on the schedule, there's still time to rally.

The 2025 Guardians are proof of this after working their way back from a 15 1/2-game deficit to win the AL Central -- the largest deficit ever overcome by a division or league champion.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, there have now been six clubs to overcome a deficit of 12 1/2 or more games and finish in first place since the Divisional Era began in 1969.
