Kenner police are investigating a death at the Westminster Tower on Sunday morning.

Preliminary investigation doesn't reveal any indication of foul play or that it is linked to the power outage at this time. Advertisement

The Westminster Tower currently has no air conditioning, power, or lights.

Residents also told WDSU that the only working elevator in the adjacent building is out of order and people are stranded on the upper floors.

They've been without power, some residents say, since about noon Thursday.

The city of Kenner says it is bringing a portable generator and fans to set up a cooling station in the cafeteria. They add that Community Development has advised that they can make 50 rooms available at the Rodeway Inn. They are also starting to work on vouchers through the City
