Drake Maye paid homage to Cam Newton on Sunday when the Patriots quarterback did the former MVP’s trademark “Superman” touchdown celebration after Maye scrambled for five yards to the end zone in the second quarter.
Maye, who grew up a Panthers fan and attended their Super Bowl 50 loss in 2015, was a big fan of Newton growing up and revealed after New England’s 42-13 win over Carolina that he tries to emulate some aspects of his game after Newton.
“The energy he brought. I don’t show much emotion out there. I probably need to show more,” Maye said after the game. “He played the position in a way different than a lot of people do. I think the guys rallied around him.”
