President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday reaffirmed that access to information was a fundamental and democratic right of every citizen, emphasising its vital role in ensuring transparency, accountability and good governance.

In their separate messages to mark the International Day for Universal Access to Information (IDUAI), both leaders underscored that free and equitable access to reliable information is a cornerstone of democracy and a prerequisite for meaningful citizen participation.
