Jacksonville Jaguars coach Liam Coen got into a shouting match with San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh after the Jaguars' 26-21 Week 4 win.

The Fox broadcast showed Coen being held back by Jaguars center Robert Hainsey during the postgame exchange while a member of the 49ers staff gently corralled Saleh.

Video from the field seems to show Coen blowing past Saleh, then telling the 49ers DC: "Keep my name out of your mouth."

Coen was asked about the argument during his postgame news conference. He declined to elaborate on it.

"It was not a big deal," Coen told reporters. "We'll just keep that between us."

While Coen was mum about the interaction, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed during his postgame news conference the tête-à-tête came to be because of comments Saleh made during a news conference of his own against of the game.

In that media availability, Saleh said Coen's staff legally operating what he referred to as a "a really advanced signal-stealing type system" before their Week 4 meeting.

"Jacksonville, this is a very young but talented group. Liam and his staff, a couple of guys coming from Minnesota, they've got a – legally, a really advanced signal-stealing type system where they always find a way to put themselves in an advantageous situation," Saleh told reporters at a Thursday media availability. "They do a great job with it. They formation you to just try to find any nugget they can. So, we've got to be great with our signals and we've got to be great with our communication to combat some of the tells that we might give on the field."

"They're almost elite in that regard," Saleh added. "That whole entire tree from Sean [McVay] to Kevin O'Connell to all those guys, they all do it. So, there's challenges. They're going to catch us in some situations where they have the advantage and we've just got to play good, sound, fundamental football and do our best to out-execute them."

Saleh made it abundantly clear there was "nothing illegal" about Coen's system and seemed to imply his remarks were meant to be complimentary.

"That's the ultimate trick, whether it's people from the sideline or whether it's our individual hand signals," Saleh said of the Jaguars. "Whatever nugget they can find, they catch it. They always happen to find themselves in good situations based on the coverage you show. There's nothing illegal about it. I'm not suggesting that. It's just, you can tell that they've got a can system that's getting them into a very advantageous position. It gets them into a very advantageous position multiple times during the course of a game."

Shanahan acknowledged he wasn't necessarily surprised Coen wasn't thrilled about Saleh's comments.

Shanahan also said he "tried to clear it up" but implied he believed Coen was overreacting to the whole situation.

"I don't think he should be that sensitive about it, but it is what it is," Shanahan said. "I'm not too worried about it."
