LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - In Grand Blanc Township, residents have been left in shock after a shooting and fire on Sunday morning at a local church.

Locals say Sundays are typically quiet in town, but on this day, peace turned into tragedy.

“Never have I ever heard of anything happening like this ever in my life. I’m completely distraught,” said Lifelong Grand Blanc resident Joe Ostrander.

Joel Feick lives near the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where the shooting took place. He wasn’t home when it happened, but his neighbors saw everything.

“My neighbors heard the gunfire, they heard the screaming, the windows, they saw the truck, it’s horrific,” said Feick.

He says it’s hard to believe that this type of violence could happen so close to home.
