The Baltimore Ravens took one on the chin on Sunday afternoon. Not only did Patrick Mahomes' rival Kansas City Chiefs smack the Ravens around, but Baltimore also fell to a disastrous 1-3 on the season. To make matters worse, two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson could miss a meaningful amount of time right as the Ravens' entire 2025 operation teeters on the brink of all-out collapse before it even gets out of the starting gate.
Jackson left the game late with one of the worst possible injuries for an elusive athlete of his caliber: a hamstring. Given how tricky this sort of injury can be for any regular person, let alone an electric talent like Jackson, this is the last development the Ravens could've afforded after falling two games under .500.
Fans on X posited that Jackson might have hurt his hamstring on this specific play:
After the game, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was pretty noncommittal about Jackson's status. He refused to confirm whether Jackson would've come back in if the game was closer.
Yeah, that won't make anyone feel better.
While I'm sure the Ravens are still evaluating Jackson before making any concrete judgment on his health, this sort of answer inclines me to believe Jackson will miss some sort of time. It's just a matter of how much.
How much time might Lamar Jackson miss with a hamstring injury?
Even if Jackson only suffered a mild hamstring strain in the best-case scenario, that sort of injury usually takes at least a couple of weeks to fully recover from, according to Cleveland Clinic. You still have to be careful even when it seems like you're OK, too. And again, that's for normal people, not someone like Jackson tasked with evading explosive pass-rushers several times every Sunday.
What is the Ravens' upcoming schedule?
Baltimore hosts the Houston Texans in Week 5, the Los Angeles Rams in Week 6, and then has a bye week before hosting the Chicago Bears in Week 8. That's not exactly the most manageable schedule with a healthy Jackson. Here's hoping for the best for the superstar quarterback.
