CHICAGO (WGN) — The Chicago Police Department’s Marine Unit extended its mission of keeping city waters safe to an unexpected resident this weekend.
On Saturday, a boater spotted a pit bull terrier stuck inside a drain pipe near the Harrison Street Bridge and quickly alerted authorities. The Marine Unit responded to the scene, working to help the stranded dog.
Fortunately, the dog’s owner saw news of the rescue effort on a public safety app and contacted police, identifying the pup as his dog, Faroe.
Using one of Faroe’s favorite squeaky toys, officers were eventually able to coax him safely out of the pipe and reunite him with his relieved owner.
