The latest controversy erupted when first-tee host Heather McMahan led a profane chant targeting golfer Rory McIlroy , prompting her to resign from her role.

In a video that was posted on social media, Heather McMahan, the emcee for the first hole, can be heard on the speakers as the crowd began making noise.

“DeChambeau,” McMahan began chanting, referencing American golfer Bryson DeChambeau .

After briefly chanting DeChambeau, the crowd began to chant “(Bleep) you, Rory” and clapped with the chant. McMahan joined in on the microphone. She later reportedly apologized to McIlroy for the chant and resigned from her post.
