KENNER, La. — Three days after the power went out at Westminster Senior Apartments, some residents are still stranded in the dark.
Family members say the conditions are unsafe, especially for elderly residents with health problems.
“It’s hot and downright dangerous,” said Sherry MacDonald, who picked up her sister from the complex Thursday night.
MacDonald worries many residents haven’t been able to charge their phones or power medical equipment. She described watching her sister help another resident with dementia and an oxygen tank try to walk down several flights of stairs.
“It’s sad, no way to call out, nobody’s shipping cold water in,” MacDonald said.
