Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita on Sunday dismissed allegations made by Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) President, Lurinjyoti Gogoi that Assamese expatriates were forced to raise funds to bring back the mortal remains of late singer Zubeen Garg from Singapore.

Speaking at a press briefing, Margherita termed the statement as “false, baseless, and politically motivated.” He said that such misleading remarks during a period of collective mourning were deeply unfortunate and aimed solely at gaining political mileage.
