Danny Jansen belted a two-run homer to pace the Milwaukee Brewers to a 4-2 comeback victory Sunday over the visiting Cincinnati Reds, who clinched their first postseason appearance since 2020 despite the loss.
Cincinnati (83-79) entered Sunday tied for the final National League wild-card spot with the Mets, who closed out the season at Miami. With a 4-0 Mets loss, the Reds still get the wild-card spot, their first postseason berth since 2020 and their first in a 162-game season since 2013 by virtue of a tiebreaker over the Mets.
Milwaukee (97-65), which has home-field advantage throughout the playoffs with the best overall record in the majors, has a bye into the NLDS, which begins Oct. 4. With the win, the Brewers set a new franchise record for victories in a season.
