As part of the nationwide rollout of over 97,000 mobile towers using indigenous technology, West Bengal has received telecom infrastructure worth more than Rs 1,166 crore, to strengthen connectivity and digital inclusion, as reported by PTI.
In the Kolkata Telephones district, BSNL has installed 1,596 4G sites spanning Kolkata, South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, Howrah, and Hooghly at an investment of around Rs 384 crore.
Additionally, the West Bengal Telecom Circle (excluding Kolkata) has deployed 2,148 sites across 23 districts with a total outlay of Rs 782 crore, the official added.
