Holtec International has no immediate plans to discharge radioactive water into the Hudson River while it's tearing down the Indian Point nuclear power plant despite a federal judge’s ruling in its favor recently.

“We’re not looking to discharge in the near term right now and we’ll continue to work with all stakeholders on finding a path forward,” Patrick O’Brien, Holtec’s government affairs representative said during a meeting on Sept. 25 in Cortlandt Town Hall.

The day before U.S. District Court Judge Kenneth Karas sided with Holtec in its lawsuit challenging a state law banning the release of a million gallons of treated radioactive water into the Hudson.
