Durga Puja, one of the most celebrated festivals in India, that honours the goddess Durga and her victory over the demon Mahishasur, is currently underway with great fervour and zest amongst the devotees. This year, the festival is being commemorated in India from September 28 to October 2. Symbolising the victory of good over evil, the festival also celebrates the divine feminine power (Shakti) and represents the homecoming of Goddess Durga to her parental home on Earth.

Kajol is known for her annual Durga Puja celebrations. Her family, the Mukerjis, have been organising the prominent North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja in Mumbai for many years, a tradition that the actress and her extended family continue to uphold.
