The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Chandigarh, has directed an insurance company, a driver and a van owner to pay a Panchkula resident Rs 6.48 lakh in compensation for the injuries he suffered in an accident that rendered him disabled.
Rahul, a resident of Sector 20, Panchkula, in the claim petition filed under Section 166 of the Motor Vehicles Act, said that on December 21, 2018, he was going home on his motorcycle with two others when a van coming from the opposite direction hit the bike in Zirakpur.
They sustained injuries and were taken to the PGI, Chandigarh, by the van driver, but thereafter, he fled the scene.
A First Information Report under Sections 279, 337 and 427 of the IPC was lodged at Zirakpur police station.
