Conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed on Sept. 10, was known as a big supporter of free speech . He once posted on X that : "There's ugly speech. There's gross speech. There's evil speech. And ALL of it is protected by the First Amendment."

But not everyone would characterize him as a free speech evangelist. Certainly not former sociology professor Ken Storey.

In 2017, Storey landed on the Professor Watchlist , which is a compilation of college professors "who discriminate against conservative students and advance leftist propaganda in the classroom," according to its website, run by Turning Point USA, the nonprofit started by Kirk and now headed by his wife, Erika .
