Amidst the din and bustle of festivities surrounding the four-day ‘Durga Puja’ across the state, the only ‘Puja’ that maintains ritual purity enjoined by the Hindu scripture ‘Matsya Purana’ is being quietly held in the famous Thakurbari in the Pyari Mater garden area of Jaynagar, west of Agartala town. The Thakurbari Durga Puja is celebrating the platinum jubilee this year as this is the 75th year of the ritual worship that had commenced in 1950 in the household of late Sanskrit scholar Sudhir Chandra Bhattacharjee.
