NEW YORK (WABC) -- Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo, and Curtis Sliwa will continue their campaigns in the race for mayor on Monday, a day after Eric Adams dropped out.

With an administration rocked by scandal, a flurry of resignations, and a criminal case, the mayor launched his reelection bid as an independent but fell behind the other candidates.

In a video released on social media, Adams spoke with pride about his achievements as mayor, including a drop in violent crime. But he said that "constant media speculation" about his future and a decision by the city's campaign finance board to withhold public funding from his reelection effort made it impossible to stay in the race.

As he announced his exit, he took pride in his achievements, including reducing violent crime in the city.
