The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday forecast extremely heavy rainfall over coastal areas of Saurashtra and Kutch under the influence of a well-marked low-pressure area over the Gulf of Cambay. Rainfall intensity is likely to reduce slightly after very heavy rain over the region on September 30, while parts of Gujarat are also likely to receive heavy showers on Monday.

Rainfall activity is expected to increase over eastern India from October 2, with isolated heavy rainfall likely over Gangetic West Bengal on October 2, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on October 3 and 4, Bihar on October 4 and 5, and Assam and Meghalaya on October 2 and 3.
