The Central Government has appointed Shirish Chandra Murmu, currently serving as Executive Director at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), as the new Deputy Governor of RBI for a tenure of three years, effective October 9.

Murmu will succeed Rajeshwar Rao, who retires on October 8. His elevation marks a significant milestone for Odisha, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi congratulating Murmu and calling the appointment “a matter of pride for the state.”
