: Daringbadi, often called the “Kashmir of Odisha,” is drawing concern from tourists and environmentalists as garbage piles threaten its scenic beauty, a source said Monday.

According to the source, plastic waste, polythene and discarded materials are being dumped along the picturesque 3-km stretch from Hill View Valley to Sraniketa village leading into Daringbadi. Once a favourite photo spot for visitors, the area is now littered with heaps of waste.

One side of the road is flanked by pine-clad hills, while the other houses the eco-retreat site, which the state government opens for 100 days each year. Tourists flock here to enjoy the serene climate, lush hills and forests, often spending nights at the eco-retreat.
