CITY HALL — MAYOR ERIC ADAMS ANNOUNCED, VIA SOCIAL MEDIA ON SUNDAY, SEPT. 28, THAT HE IS ENDING HIS RE-ELECTION BID , according to CBS News .

In a video he released on the platform X, he itemized his administration’s accomplishments, such as having set a record for housing construction within a single term, reduced crime, particularly murder and gun violence, raised test scores and “made record investments” in the city. Adams blamed media speculation about his future – particularly reports of a possible role in the Trump administration – for upending his campaign. He also blamed the Campaign Finance Board for “its decision to withhold millions of dollars [which] undermined my ability to raise the funds needed for a serious campaign.”
