Four high school football standouts from Cleveland and Gaston counties have been selected to play in the 2025 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.

Ashbrook linebacker Caleb Gordon, Crest defensive backs Lyrik Pettis and D’Various Surratt, as well as Shelby long snapper Brett Morgan will represent North Carolina in the 89th renewal of the all-star game played annually in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This year’s game is set for Saturday, Dec. 20 at Spartanburg High’s Viking Stadium.

A three-star linebacker, Gordon is an Arkansas football recruit. He is credited with 367 career tackles (25 for a loss), 10 sacks, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
