As the threat of a federal military crackdown continued to loom over Portland, an estimated 200 demonstrators converged Sunday at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in South Portland to decry the mobilization of troops.
Early in the day, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth moved to send 200 members of the Oregon National Guard into federal service in Portland for 60 days.
The state, in turn, filed a lawsuit to block the Trump administration from deploying the National Guard to Portland or anywhere in the state.
