A senior adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, suggested that Tehran should consider joining the new Saudi-Pakistani defence alliance . He described the move as a positive step toward enhancing regional security, while also highlighting Iran's military preparedness and its need to maintain deterrence.

Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi told state television that the Riyadh-Islamabad agreement was a positive development and suggested that Iran, Iraq, and other countries should also join the initiative, reported Tehran Times.

"We assess this treaty as positive. Pakistan has announced that other countries can join, and I recommend that Iran also participate," Tehran Times quoted Safavi as saying.
