In a significant initiative to strengthen the traditional carpet industry of Kashmir, the Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (IICT), Srinagar has launched a two-month Short Term Skill Upgradation Programme in Silk Carpet Weaving at Wakherwan, Pulwama.

The programme is being implemented under the Guru Shishya Hastshilp Prashikshan Programme (GSHPP) of the National Handicrafts Development Programme (NHDP), sanctioned by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Union Ministry of Textiles.
