Augusta Health has installed a weapons detection system at its main Fishersville hospital's primary atrium entrance.
It is part of a systemwide safety initiative that will see increased security at multiple Augusta Health facilities.

Oversized jackets and large bags will be subject to visual inspection by a security officer, the health system said.
A nearby patient entrance will no longer be open for entry. Signs have been placed to redirect patients, visitors and staff to the main entrance.
