HAYS, Kan. (KAKE) - The name of Hays police officer who died from his injuries sustained during a shooting while responding to a call Saturday evening has been identified.

Just before 11 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of a woman escaping a domestic violence incident in the 2200 block of Downing Street. The woman told police that, while she attempted to flee, 34-year-old Zane Wickham, her significant other, drove his truck into her vehicle. She ran to a nearby home to call for help.
