WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has said that he will impose a 100 percent tariff on all films made outside the United States. "Our movie making business has been stolen from the United States of America, by other Countries, just like stealing 'candy from a baby," Trump wrote in a post on social media platform Truth Social.
Trump had earlier threatened to impose such taxes in May, but the lack of further details had caused confusion among entertainment industry executives. The US contributes about 35 percent to 40 percent of the overseas box office of Indian films.
