(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento County Code Enforcement reported that the 2025 efforts to crack down on illegal fireworks saw a major success.

Officials said that the Code Enforcement issued more than twice as many penalties in 2025 compared to 2024, despite receiving fewer complaints.

Code Enforcement received 774 complaints about illegal fireworks from mid-June through July, a 26% decrease from 2024.

Officials said 72 penalties were issued, which is a 112% increase from the year before. The division also issued 189 warning letters and completed more than 840 follow-ups with residents.
