Auckland, New Zealand, Sep 29: In a landmark event for the Konkani-speaking Catholic community in New Zealand, the Mangalorean Kiwis Community of Auckland hosted the first-ever Liturgical Konkani Mass inside a church in Auckland. Held at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Papatoetoe, this historic Eucharistic celebration drew 128 attendees from across the city, marking a new chapter in the cultural and spiritual life of Mangalorean Catholics in Aotearoa.

The Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr Basil Vaz, visiting from Vorkadi Church in the Diocese of Mangaluru. His presence and spiritual leadership deeply moved the faithful gathered, many of whom expressed joy at participating in a Mass conducted in their native Konkani language for the first time in New Zealand.
