CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Marquise Darius Dickerson, 33 from Monroe, Michigan, was sentenced to over four years in federal prison on September 26 for possessing a firearm as a felon.

Dickerson pleaded guilty on April 17. Law enforcement in Oelwein responded to an assault report in August 2024, where the victim stated Dickerson spat and choked them while intoxicated. During a search, officers found Dickerson's firearm, which he is prohibited from possessing due to his felony status.

United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams sentenced Dickerson to 52 months in prison, followed by a three-year supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
