STE. GENEVIEVE COUNTY, Mo. (WSIL) -- Two people are dead after a single-vehicle crash in Ste. Genevieve County on Sunday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened on September 28, at 9:37 a.m., in the southbound lanes of I-55 at the 154 mile marker.

State police said a 21-year-old man was driving a 2009 Pontiac G5 going south when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, hit a rock bluff and flipped over. A 21-year-old male passenger was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Both the driver and the passenger were from Ste. Genevieve.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene while the passenger was taken to St. Louis University Hospital where he later was pronounced dead.
