UPDATE 10/3/25: The Greene County Sheriff's Office has identified 67-year-old David Baker as the deceased victim in the house fire near Ebenzer on Monday, Sept. 29.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, and the Greene County Sheriff's Office says they are still investigating.

GREENE COUNTY, Mo. -- Officials are investigating a fatal house fire in the Ebenezer area Monday morning that left one person dead, according to the Greene County Sheriff's Office.

At approximately 7 a.m., the Ebenzer Fire Protection District was called to a residential structure fire on 5171 N. Farm Road 145. At the scene, firefighters found someone who had died in the home.

Greene County Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating the fire, and the scene is still active.
