SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A Bradenton hospital recently performed a newly approved procedure to treat persistent hypertension, it was announced Monday.

HCA Blake Hospital performed its first renal denervation procedure Sept. 25 in its recently launched hypertension program.

The procedure, approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2023, lowers blood pressure in patients with resistant hypertension.

According to the University of Pennsylvania’s Health System, brain, heart and kidneys send messages to nerves to help regulate your blood pressure. Overactivity in these nerves can increase blood pressure.
