US President Donald Trump hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday for talks aimed at pushing forward a Gaza peace proposal, even as Israeli tanks pressed deeper into Gaza City.

Netanyahu, making his fourth visit since Trump’s return to office in January, arrived by limousine and was greeted personally by the President at the White House doors. The two leaders shook hands for an extra moment, exchanged warm words: “You look great,” Trump told Netanyahu. “So do you,” Netanyahu replied, before turning to waiting cameras and flashing thumbs up.

Asked by reporters about the chances of reaching a deal, Trump said, “I’m very confident.” When pressed further on a Gaza peace agreement, he appeared to mouth, “I am.”
