Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is facing scrutiny on social media over his response to President Donald Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard to the city of Portland.

Trump announced on Saturday that he is sending troops to “protect War ravaged Portland" and “any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists” at the request of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem . The state of Oregon and the city have since sued the Trump administration to block the federalization of the National Guard, arguing that the move is an unconstitutional abuse of power.

During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Schumer was asked by host Kristen Welker on Sunday if there is anything he can do to stop the deployment in Congress.
