OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Douglas County District Court convened a Grand Jury last Tuesday and returned a “No True Bill” for 8 in-custody deaths.

A release from the Douglas County District Court says a “No True Bill” has been returned for the following in-custody deaths:

Edward Lee died in the hospital after serving a life sentence for first-degree murder, beginning in 1983.

Steven Phipps was shot by police after a foot chase and altercation following a traffic stop.

James Leenerts was found unresponsive in his cell and was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Albert Thompson was also found unresponsive in his cell and was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
