ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It was a key win as New Mexico United looks to continue to make its push towards the postseason. NM United beat Lexington SC on Sunday night 2-1, in what was a wet and wild match at Isotopes Park.

Lightning delayed the start of this match by almost two hours, but when things finally got started, United came out firing. The Black and Yellow racked up two goals in the first 10 minutes of this match, getting a goal from Marlon Vargas in the seventh minute and a PK goal from Talen Maples in the 10th minute.

Lexington would earn a red card and be down a man in the second half, but they would cut the lead in half with a second-half goal. United held off Lexington after that, even through a second weather delay that occurred in the 90th minute of the match.
