ST. GEORGE, La. (WAFB) - A woman was arrested for aggravated arson after officials say she set a fire during a birthday party.

Officials say the fire happened back in June 2025 in the 17500 block of Azalea Lakes Avenue.

According to the St. George Fire Department, several witnesses accused Destiny Cosey, 27, of using a cup of gasoline to ignite a box of gifts and adjacent patio furniture located on the back patio of a residence. The burned items were allegedly positioned next to the rear exterior wall of the house, which was occupied by attendees of a birthday party, including both children and adults.

Cosey was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison by authorities on September 23 as a fugitive. She was then arrested by SGFD on September 24 and charged with aggravated arson in c
